The Driving Force Behind Britain’s EV Revolution.
Britishvolt want to accelerate the transition to zero-carbon energy. Beginning construction in September 2021, they are building the UK's first gigafactory. With the intention of producing low carbon batteries, Britishvolt chose to build their factory in Northumberland close to an abundance of renewable energy. Recognising the other gaps in existing battery technology, Britishvolt also commit to investing in performance, durability and battery recycling, using recyclable materials in their batteries when practicable. With a core intention to support the transition to electric travel, the gigaplant should have significant effects on our most polluted areas, improving air quality by reducing localised carbon emissions.
